Transition to Life After a Pandemic
Fun, Creative Activities for Students to Build Academic and Social Emotional Learning
The pandemic altered life and education as we knew it. Parents, students and educators adapted as well as they could during this unprecedented time. We learned how to Zoom, social distance and organize break out rooms. Families and schools have changed daily routines. We created a New Normal as we dealt with the pandemic.
The Transition to Life After a Pandemic activities help children express themselves. While the book is geared towards children, the activities are fun and insightful for all ages. These activities can be done one-to-one or in a group. Based on the work of Dr. Violet Oaklander each exercise includes a guided creative activity that allows students to explore and express their thoughts about the past, present and future.

Using the Oaklander Model:
A Guidebook for Therapists and Counselors Working with Children, Adolescents and Families
by Karen Fried PsyD LMFT
and
Christine McKenna LMFT LPCC
This guidebook serves as a companion to the Oaklander Training Program Violet developed after publishing Windows to Our Children. Child and adolescent therapists came from all over the world to attend her life-changing two-week intensive workshops in Santa Barbara, California. This training continues in Santa Monica, California (led by Karen Fried) and in other United States and international venues by facilitators whom Violet trained, including Lynn Stadler and Peter Mortola. While this guidebook is meant to be used by therapists who have participated in Violet's training process, that experience is not a requirement.
Praise for the book:
The workbook is absolutely unbelievable! I am ever so impressed with the time and thoughtfulness that clearly went into it. What a contribution to Violet’s legacy. Thank you.
